RECORD STORE DAY 2024
Record Store Day is just around the corner, and music lovers worldwide are gearing up to celebrate the vibrant culture of independent record stores. Since its inception in 2007, Record Store Day has become an annual tradition, bringing together staff, artists, and customers to celebrate music and community. It's a day dedicated to celebrating the unique experience of browsing through racks of vinyl, discovering hidden gems, and connecting with fellow music lovers. It's a chance for independent record stores to shine!
At Shrubs & Dubs, we're excited to announce our participation in Record Store Day 2024. SHRUBS, DUBS & FEMALE FRIENDS @WOW FESTIVAL
We’re so excited to have a stall at WOW - the world’s biggest, most comprehensive festival celebrating women, girls and non-binary people - this year! WOW London will be taking over the Southbank Centre from 10-12 March with an incredible line-up of world-class speakers, activists, artists and comedians.
We will also be joined by 6 incredible female led businesses Habit Haus, Gini Bean, Salt Studios, Byeanna, Emilie Flora & Tuft Daddy.
If you’ve never been to a WOW Festival, we couldn’t recommend it more. Over the three days there are life-changing discussions, live music performances and debates – it’s a chance to join in on both the most difficult but vital discussions, and workshops that have you in fits of laughter. There’s also the FREE WOW Marketplace where you’ll find us alongside other exciting women and non-binary led businesses, charities and organisations.
Everyone is welcome! Lots of the events are BSL Interpreted and/or Live Captioned.

Green Rooms Market has teamed up with Independent Ceramics Market for Grown & Thrown; a bumper market of ceramicists and plant sellers on Sunday 19th February, allowing customers to find a unique pot or vase pairing for their houseplants and flowers.
We will be there with our unique concept of plants and records as well as 20 other plant retailers alongside the ceramicists (ceramicists are booked by Independent Ceramics Market) selling their handmade plant pots and vases.

SIZE 8 TAKEOVER
We are excited to announce for this months in store take over we will be joined by Size 8 for the release of his latest EP on his self titled label.

RECORD STORE DAY
Join us on Saturday 23rd April for the 15th annual Record Store day.
Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 260 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion. Thousands more shops celebrate the day around the globe in what’s become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar.
This year we will be celebrating in store with some exclusive giveaways. We will be giving away a free tote bag as well as a free shrub with every record purchased because you can’t have a dub without a shrub.
We can’t wait to see you all in store on the day!
FOUNDATION FM TAKEOVER
On Friday the 22nd of April we will be joined in store by the one and only Foundation FM! The store will be closed for the day as we will be broadcasting LIVE directly from the Shrubs & Dubs store. All of the action will be live streamed so you will be able to watch live over on our YouTube channel.
For the takeover we have asked some incredible DJs to come and join us: Jade Cox, Marcelina Wick, J Oh Zee, Tayylor Made will all be playing a killer DJ set. We will also be asking them all things Shrubs & Dubs.
Also expect an all vinyl set from Shrubs & Dubs owner Kieran, who will be giving you a taste of the vinyl we stock instore as well as giving you the low down on whats coming up for Shrubs & Dubs. There will also be a very special announcement!! You do not want to miss this, so tune in live!!

‘FOOL’ LAUNCH EVENT w/ GEORG' ESTELLE
Fusing soul, R&B and subtle jazz tendencies, Georg’ Estelle surfaces with the timely release of her highly anticipated new single ‘Fool’ out this April 1st . Born in the English Riviera and raised near the Italian Dolomites before moving to London, Georg’ Estelle is no stranger to pursuing her passion. Taking us straight into her world with her new single, ‘Fool’ pulls at our heartstrings with its mellow drum-based rhythm, topped with delicate groovy synths, this track lends a seat for Georg’s lush vocals to sit. Carrying themes of knowing your worth, being emotionally empowered and having a self-achieving attitude, the track is for every woman who refuses to be taken as a fool.
Speaking on ‘Fool’ Georg’ Estelle explains;
“This song came straight from the heart, I was hurting at the time and I was angry with the person who lied to me. I used all the emotions inside me to write a letter to him and to myself in an hour or so, the pen really took over my body. I love performing this song because I know there’s always someone who can relate. But this is no melancholic song, it’s about taking the lead and saying “goodbye” to what’s not good for you anymore”.
PAPA NUGS TAKEOVER
We’re excited to announce for this months in store take over we will be joined by none other than Papa Nugs who’s upcoming release will be out at the end of this month on Outhouse Sounds!
After a busy summer playing to 5000 people at Leeds Festival, a packed out rowdy B2B with Dr Banana, a debut 12" EP on Dr Banana's Ba Dum Tish Imprint and a contribution to an INSTINCT VA, DJ/Producer Papa Nugs has spent the year since playing almost every weekend in a different city, including Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and London; even travelling to Lizdas Club in Lithuania for another sell out show. A number of these have been headline shows which have sold out in advance.
Papa Nugs eclectic style is hard to define; as showed by his versatile debut Ba Dum Tish EP 'Milk & Beans' which combines sounds of breakbeat, electro, garage and minimal, as well as every set he performs. This has recieved wide support including from Freakenstein, Dr Banana, Alec Falconer, Harry Wills, Emerald, Burnski and many more. His future projects will continue to merge all of the different genres he loves so much, with an emphasis on deep, melodic, hard hitting club ready tracks.
Upcoming projects 2 tracks to be released on Rinse FMs very own digital label, a full EP on INSTINCT, a full EP on Riz La Reef’s South London pressings and a full EP on Lobster Thermin, more headline shows in Bristol, London and Leeds, supporting Mike Skinner at XOYO in London, and a string of his own successful nights 'Papa Nugs Presents' in London and Leeds, which are usually sell out affairs.
He has also been honing his vinyl skills playing all vinyl sets on DJ Oneman and Dr Banana’s rinse FM shows, as well as during his own new monthly Balamii show and at all of his live gigs."

On Friday 11th of March, Shrubs & Dubs will be celebrating international women’s day by having its own stall at the Women of the World Festival. The festival is running all weekend from Friday – Sunday 13 March 2022.
WOW is the world’s biggest, most comprehensive festival celebrating women, girls and non-binarypeople. Over three days, WOW’s line-up of world-class speakers, activists, musicians and comedians generate life-changing conversations, incredible performances and interactive workshops. With the pandemic having set back the progress of gender equality, 2022’s festival takes a close look at the state of gender equality across the world. It also sees the return of WOW Speed Mentoring, WOW Bites, WOW Big Ideas and the WOW Marketplace. The line-up includes a packed programme of day-time events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus appearances from Patrisse Cullors, Bridget Christie, Angela Davis, Elizabeth Day, Candice Brathwaite, Bernardine Evaristo, Deborah Frances-White, Natalie Haynes, Marian Keyes, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Warsan Shire, Pandora Sykes, Lisa Taddeo, Grace Victory and loads more!
TXTBK TAKEOVER
The record label “TXTBK” was established last year and want to take you back to the underground. They describe their sound as - “It's back in the day, the soundtrack blasting through the UK pirate airwaves is the undeniable sound of underground House & Garage. You're chilling, care free, your boy hits you up on your 5110 face-off like, 'YO MAN WT U SAYIN? TXTBK'.. A while later you link up, throw in a blank TDK and hit REC. Giving it your very best EZ impersonation on your wonky set of belt drives, your boys voice crackling in and out from the unrelenting dodgy mic lead”.
TXTBK will be taking over the decks in store on 26th of Feb with an incredible line up. Come in a shop with us from 3-7pm and enjoy being taken back to the underground sounds of Garage!

Join us on Sunday the 13th of Feb for a Shrubs & Dubs X Amica Galentines Day Store Takeover. The day will be filled with workshops, drinks and good vibes.
Amica is a global community for women travelling solo. The Amica App is the first platform for women to create friendships on the move. Existing to empower women to fearlessly explore the world and their interests, dedicated to inspiring and connecting women on their journeys anywhere in the world.
LATE NIGHT SUPERGLUE TAKEOVER
For our first takeover of the year, founder of record label “Late Night Superglue” will be taking over the decks. Known as “Yard Customer”, Adam founded LNS last year and has been quickly building a name for itself within the underground scene. LNS will be promoting their newest release the “KUGELLAGER EP” which is now available in store.
Come down on Saturday the 29th of January from 7.30pm for some late night shopping and some great tunes. The takeover will also be streamed live on Shrubs & Dubs Youtube channel :)

Pop down and join us in store on Thursday 2nd September where Gunfinger Food front man Lex G will be taking to the decks to deliver a set packed full of the signature gun finger sound he’s known for.
